One of a parent representative’s main duties is to assure smooth transmission of information between school management, parents, and teachers. Issues that parent representatives might approach teachers about include the nature and volume of homework, the content and structure of lessons, and the performance criteria and execution of performance assessments.

One parent representative attends each secondary school subject conference, enabling parents to be involved in the school planning for the year. A DST parent representative is also present at each meeting of the “Conseil d’ Administration” at Lycée Victor Hugo and the Eurocampus canteen committee and may contribute suggestions.

Day-to-day school life for the students features a number of activities over the year that are only possible with parental involvement.

Parent representatives are also responsible for coordinating organisational tasks such as:

• Supporting events / celebrations (like the Lantern Festival, class celebrations and school celebrations)
• Accompanying classes on excursions.

There is also a team of volunteers that help to run the school’s two libraries.
