Three Languages, one Campus: A successful open day
On 7 February, the Deutsche Schule Toulouse (DST) and the International School of Toulouse (IST) opened their doors from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. In bright sunshine, many families took the opportunity to discover the Eurocampus and gain a first-hand insight into everyday life at both schools.
Visitors were welcomed at the entrance by staff from both schools, before the student scouts took over the tours. Our DST scouts guided guests around the campus in three languages and answered questions about the school – sharing their perspective as students themselves.

In the DST Early Years section (Kindergarten), there was singing and crafting, children tried out a letter and movement course, and parents were able to see how the foundations of mathematics, science and language are already introduced here in a playful way.

In the auditorium, visitors were invited to take part in a music workshop and try out small rhythm and music exercises themselves. At the same time, several classrooms kept their doors open throughout the morning: our teachers explained their teaching approaches, presented learning materials and invited guests to take part in small hands-on activities – including in mathematics, science and languages.

Many conversations centred on the AbiBac, the school’s multilingual environment and the different academic pathways offered at the DST. In addition, some visitors took the opportunity to learn more about the “Active for Climate” sustainability project and student work presented through “Jugend forscht”.

A short tour of the school canteen offered insight into its offering and the products used. Most of these are locally sourced and organic, which guests were able to sample.
Throughout the morning, there were many opportunities for conversations with teachers, staff and students. The Open Day offered a vivid impression of the breadth and international character of the DST, and how learning, pastoral care and academic guidance work together here.

The Open Day also provided an opportunity to learn more about our afternoon activities and holiday programmes. The garderie, Wednesday afternoon activities and holiday care teams presented their concepts and explained how care is organised on the Eurocampus – from supervised study time to leisure activities and projects.
