International schools benefit Toulouse
A wonderful letter from François Chollet, City Councillor of Toulouse, Vice-President of Toulouse Métropole and Member of the National Academy of Medicine:
“Dear Director,
Every year, the Toulouse Metropolitan Area welcomes between 10,000 and 15,000 additional people. Coming from France, the European Union and, more widely, from around the world, these short and long-term visitors contribute to the city and Metropolitan Area’s influence.
This continuous demographic growth over the past 25 years is a result of establishing a favourable ecosystem that has enabled economic players and companies of all sizes to develop and thrive.
Via proactive policy, Toulouse, the municipalities in the Metropolitan Area and all the local authorities have supported this movement and dynamism. In addition to the harmonious function of infrastructure and support structures, the contribution of international schools is fundamental to our multinational youth.
They clearly contribute to the integration of children and young people, conveying French culture while respecting their origins.
The German School of Toulouse is a prime example. It welcomes children of 20 different nationalities to Colomiers, and provides them with an excellent Franco-German education in a cosmopolitan environment. Children from German and international families can easily find their feet while learning French culture and language.
On a more personal level, my wife and I have been lucky enough to see our grandchildren benefit from this schooling for the past five years.
We appreciate, beyond the multicultural framework, the teaching approach focused on personal development, a high academic level, autonomy and the child’s openness to the world.
I send the director and teachers of the school good wishes for their prosperity and thank them for their commitment to the children.”
