School Trip to Leucate

Last week, our secondary school pupils swapped the classroom for the coast and set off on an unforgettable two-day trip to Leucate.

The adventure began with a visit to Fontfroide Abbey, where centuries of history can be felt in every stone. Afterwards, it was straight to the beach, where pupils from all year groups competed in mixed teams. The youngest and oldest worked side by side, with plenty of new friendships formed along the way.

The evening brought its own share of excitement. Each class was given a surprise challenge and had to put together a performance on the spot. The result was an impressive display of creativity and far more laughter than rehearsal time. After all, you get to know your classmates in a completely different way when you have just twenty minutes to come up with something together.

On Friday, it was time for the hike. There were a few tired legs, but the stunning views more than made up for it. The day ended back at the impressive Château de Salses, which served as both the starting and finishing point of the walk.

Two days away from the classroom, yet so much learning still took place: lessons in teamwork, trust and thinking on your feet, all of which are difficult to find in any textbook.
